Aikido means "The Way to Harmony of the Spirit".
Aikido is a Japanese martial art, developed in the twentieth century for self-defense and spiritual training. Considered one of the most elegant and sophisticated of the martial arts, aikido offers a greater degree of subtlety than many comparable martial disciplines. A person who studies and practices aikido correctly desires to defend themselves without harming their opponent. To achieve and maintain this attitude, one must achieve a very high level of integration of mind and body.

2nd Dan Kokikai Aikido
Gabriel views Aikido as a path of inner development rather than simply a set of techniques. He focuses on calmness, relaxation, grounded movement, and clear intention, helping students build balance and presence on and off the mat. From this foundation, effective martial skill arises naturally, within a dojo culture built on respect, growth, and connection.
2nd Kyu Kokikai Aikido, 4th Dan Hapkido
Dale has been involved in martial arts for well over 40 years, with extensive experience in boxing, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Brazilian ju jitsu, Sun Do and holds a senior Black belt in Hapkido.
4th Dan Kokikai Aikido, Club Founder & Mentor
A former Australian junior martial arts champion, Paul has 26 years experience in aikido and is a former professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter. He also has many years experience in a variety of other martial arts, including Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Judo, and Karate.
Beaches Aikido dojo is situated at Avalon Recreation Centre, an excellent state of the art facility on Sydney's Northern Beaches, located at 59 Old Barrenjoey Rd Avalon Beach 2107.
The dojo (training hall) has a perfect northern aspect with ceiling to floor windows opening directly to Dunbar Park. The facility is fitted with sun-blinds, overhead fans, heaters, sprung timber floors, kitchen, change rooms, lockable storage and toilet facilities It is one of the best of its type in Sydney. There is plenty of parking nearby. After training you can enjoy the pleasant cafes and restaurants of Avalon village, or enjoy a swim at Avalon Beach.
